Teenagers charged with assault
THREE teenagers appeared in front of Dublin District Court yesterday, in connection with an assault which left a Lithuanian man in a critical condition. Kevin Dunne, Michael Rae, and Leigh O'Connell, all aged 18 and living in health board hostels, are charged with assault following the incident at the weekend.
Garda Liam Donoghue of Fitzgibbon Street Garda station told the court none of the three said anything when they were charged.
All three are charged with assault under section three of the non-fatal offences against the person act.
The 48-year-old Lithuanian man (40) was attacked on Saturday night near Binns Bridge, on the Royal Canal, in Drumcondra.

Two men charged with assaulting a Lithuanian man in Dublin have been refused bail.
A third man's been remanded in custody with consent to bail.
18 year-old's Leigh O'Connell and Michael Rae who live in health board hostels were remanded in custody until October the 4th.
18 year-old Kevin Dunne who was also in health board care is due to be released on bail this Friday.
All three are charged with assault causing harm to the 48 year-old at a canal bridge in north Dublin on Saturday.
The man is fighting for his life at Dublin's Mater Hospital.

Three appear over Dublin assault
Three teenagers have been before court charged in connection with an assault that has left a Lithuanian man in a critical condition in a Dublin hospital.
The three accused are Leo Connell, Michael Rea and Kevin Dunne. They are each aged 18 and living in Health Board hostels.
Dublin District Court heard that none of the men had anything to say in answer to a charge of assault causing harm following their separate arrests yesterday.

O'Connell and Rea were remanded in custody to appear again in Cloverhill District Court next Monday. Dunne, who had bail fixed at €1,300, will appear on Friday. The 48-year-old victim, a construction worker, is still in hospital following the attack which occurred at the Royal Canal on Saturday night.
Gardaí are still searching for a fourth man in connection with the assault.
